OPT-IN THEN BINDING

Co-op pays CAD $25,000–40,000 per term and is prestigious — we do not compete with it. We reach the students co-op structurally cannot place: those not admitted, those who cannot relocate, those in a term without a placement.

Programme
240 hours
No national standard · workload comparable to a 3-credit course
Academic year
September – April
three co-op cycles: Jan–Apr, May–Aug, Sep–Dec
Grading
Varies by institution — percentage, letter grade or 4
Who we work with

Work-experience rules: Co-op is optional to enter, but once admitted the work terms are a mandatory degree component. Pre-graduation co-op counts for up to 12 months of the P.Eng experience requirement.

Accreditation

  • CEAB
Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board — accredits engineering programmes.
  • Provincial regulators
PEO in Ontario, APEGA in Alberta, OIQ in Quebec and others license professional engineers.
  • CEWIL
Canada Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada — sets WIL quality expectations and runs funding rounds.
  • Provincial quality bodies
Such as the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance.

Engineers Clinic is not accredited by these bodies. Our projects produce outcome-mapped evidence that supports an institution's own accreditation reporting.
