MANDATORY

Students genuinely cannot graduate without WIL, and placements are scarce. Load-shedding, data costs and relocation barriers make asynchronous low-bandwidth delivery a real advantage rather than a compromise.

Work-experience rules: Work-Integrated Learning is a compulsory graduation requirement for National Diplomas at Universities of Technology, delivered as P1 workshop training and P2 experiential training.

Accreditation

  • SAQA
South African Qualifications Authority — registers qualifications on the NQF.
  • CHE
Council on Higher Education — accredits higher education programmes.
  • ECSA
Engineering Council of South Africa — professional accreditation and registration.
  • QCTO
Quality Council for Trades and Occupations — occupational qualifications and, with the SETAs, the gateway to skills-levy funding.

Engineers Clinic is not accredited by these bodies. Our projects produce outcome-mapped evidence that supports an institution's own accreditation reporting.
